Driven by the wind

The relevance of wind power development in Quebec
A presentation by the Fondation Éole to raise public awareness of the relevance of developing wind energy in Quebec communities.

According to independent research, the team has put in place understandable content to make the principles of wind power and the wind power industry in Quebec accessible to the general public.

She covers the socio-economic, environmental, historical and technological aspects of the sector, then puts received ideas into perspective and explains the possibilities of spin-offs according to the community development model.

Open a dialogue between the population and the wind industry in order to share citizens' concerns, and act as a transmission belt by creating a neutral communication platform.

Educational workshops on wind power

The foundation is working on setting up educational and interactive workshops on renewable energy for presentation in school or extracurricular contexts, complementary to science classes.

The goal is to raise awareness among young people about the energy issues of our time and motivate them to learn more about the subject through a practical application framework.

The emergence of alternative energy sources and new renewable technologies is essential in the fight against climate change. Quebec's next generation is concerned about the environment and must get involved in the change possible thanks to clean technologies.

The workshops also aim to enlighten students on career possibilities in the sector by stimulating their interest in renewable energy and explaining careers related to wind power.

LIVING LAB FOR INNOVATION IN WIND POWER PRODUCTION FOR MICROGRID

In a context of growing demand for energy, the population must get involved and take initiatives to help lighten the national electricity grid. In addition, power needs in many Indigenous communities and locations remote from the national electrical grid are currently supplied largely by fossil fuel generators.

The foundation is currently working on the establishment of a LIVING LAB focused on self-production micro-grids based mainly on wind turbines, with a view to facilitating the adoption and appropriation of clean technologies by the general public.

The goal is to give tools to citizens, small organizations and communities so that they can in turn embark on a self-production energy project and adopt renewable energy, according to a simplified and accessible model.

This will all be done by installing an integrated micro-grid on the Éole Project site powered by renewable energy in order to meet the needs of the site, and to thoroughly document all the stages and technical elements linked to the project, as well as to test and validate new accessible technologies.
